What comes first. Communication, trust, and adherence in daily practice.

Not just words: understanding and accompanying the patient from the first meeting.

Webinar Topic.

Health communication doesn't start when we talk. It starts when the patient begins to expect something.

The moment a patient enters a waiting room, approaches a pharmacy counter, and reads a referral he or she does not understand, he or she is already constructing meaning. Anxiety does not grow in content. It grows in the gaps. In unchosen silences, in words spoken in haste, in explanations that come too late, difficult to understand, or not at all.

Yet, we continue to think of communication as something that comes later: after the diagnosis, after the prescription, after the important things have been done.

This webinar starts with a different hypothesis: that language is not an ancillary tool of care, but an integral part of it. That trust is built not with protocols, but with what comes first: a look, a well-chosen word, time spent explaining uncertainty instead of circumventing it.

We will explore it from concrete scenarios that belong to the daily practice of physicians, nurses, and pharmacists: the hard news to give, the patient who does not adhere, the consent that becomes a form instead of a relationship, the metaphors that guide or do harm, the three minutes at the counter in which the continuity of a therapy is built, or lost.

Not a course in techniques. A space to recognize what we already know how to do, and understand where the thread breaks.
